Junior Church is held on Sundays during the sermon and intercessions. It provides an opportunity for young people aged between eight and early teens to get together in church and follow an appropriate course of activities. The group now regularly comprises 12-16 children.
1999 began with an audit of what they liked doing: drama, discussion and creative work emerged high up on the list. This led to us adopting the Alpha Course of youth and meant we had plenty of opportunities throughout the year for lively discussion and serious thinking about Christianity. Some of this took place through small group activities, talking through issues, jotting down thought or key words, and drawing and then presenting them to the rest of the group.
Junior Church has had input into our family Services and at the Christingle service. We have per- formed a tableau play, processed down the aisle with banners commemorating the Saints and then told the congregation about them and helped with intercessions.
We have a strong team of helpers: Shaun, Rebecca, Mal, Stephen, Lorraine, Georgina, Jane and John. However there is always room for more ... more helpers and more children.
